Job Opening: Precision Hand Scraper
GCH Tool Group, the world's largest manufacturer of new spare parts and components for centerless, ID, OD, double-disc and surface grinders, is seeking a full-time Precision Hand Scraper for its Warren, Mich., global headquarters. The Precision Hand Scraper will build, repair, and test high-precision machine tool spindles and related products per established procedures, quality standards and production schedules. Please note that all candidates must have prior hand scraping experience to be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Performs machine alignments via hand scraping of slides, gibs and other machine components, holding a .0002 tolerance **REQUIRED**
- Confirms proper function and alignment tolerances of all parts and assemblies
- Fits parts to very close tolerances and operating requirements
- Uses various measurement tools to accurately measure assembly of components and/or finished products
- Follows established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain the quality of the work environment
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Requires two (2) or more years’ experience **REQUIRED**
- Possesses hand tools and equipment needed to perform required functions
- Ability to verify and check precision parts to print
- Ability to verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers and dial indicators
- Must have the ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, sketches and verbal instructions
- Capable of handling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or as a member of a team
- Must have the physical strength and stamina to perform a full shift of assigned jobs
